Hillsdale College Named Best college Value in Midwest
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance annual ranking names Hillsdale one of top 50 best values in the country
Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance 300 Best College Values for 201 . The school earned the No. 26 spot on the magazine’s list of Top 50 Overall College Values and was ranked No. 14 out of the top 100 liberal arts colleges.
Hillsdale works to provide its students the best education while maintaining institutional independence. “We strive to keep costs low and to aid students seeking a quality liberal arts education,” said David Whalen, Hillsdale College provost. “This ranking demonstrates the success of the college’s commitment to thrive without government funding.”
In addition to ranking at No. 26 overall, Hillsdale College is also ranked the top value for schools in Michigan and the Midwest. Hillsdale rose 10 spots from their 2017 ranking of No. 36.
Due to the college’s efforts to keep higher education affordable, Hillsdale graduates incur significantly less debt than the national average and have a lower default rate than graduates of other institutions.
Introduced in 1998, the rankings combine public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges into a single, comprehensive list selected from nearly 1,200 four-year institutions. Kiplinger also ranks the 100 best values in each category. The analysis is based on objective measurements of academic quality and affordability including admission rates, graduation rates, standardized test scores of admitted students, student debt at graduation, cost and financial aid, among other measures.
The full rankings are now available online and will appear in the February 2018 print issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.
