Hillsdale College Alumnus to Lead Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs
2008 graduate Paul Ray named Acting Administrator of key federal agency
Hillsdale, Mich.— Hillsdale College congratulates 2008 graduate Paul Ray on being named acting administrator of the U.S. Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA).

In his role as acting administrator of OIRA, a part of the Office of Management and Budget, Ray leads the agency’s work overseeing executive regulations; federal government information collection; and implementation of federal information policy, privacy, and statistical policies.
After graduating from Hillsdale College in 2008, Ray earned his law degree from Harvard University in 2011. He worked as a clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals Second Circuit and for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, as an associate at Sidley Austin LLP’s Washington office, and as a counselor to Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta.
Ray joined OIRA in July 2018 as deputy administrator and began his duties as acting administrator in March 2019. He will serve in this capacity until a permanent administrator is appointed by President Donald Trump and approved by the U.S. Senate.
