Hillsdale College Chargers Win Second G-MAC Cross-Country Championship Title

Coach Andrew Towne named Great Midwest Coach of the Year

Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates the women’s cross-country team on winning the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Cross-Country Championship meet. This is the program’s second G-MAC championship title after previously winning the conference title in 2017.

The G‑MAC Cross-Country Championship was held on Saturday, October 26, in Pepper Pike, Ohio. The team’s victory in the 6K race was led by the second- and third-place finishes of senior Arena Lewis, with a time of 20:55.3, and junior Maryssa Depies, with a time of 20:55.7. Both were named to the All-Conference First Team after their personal record races.

Prior to the meet, the Chargers were ranked 10th in the nation. They moved into second place in the Midwest Region following their win. With his team’s conference victory, Andrew Towne, head coach for the Hillsdale track and field programs, was named the Great Midwest Coach of the Year.
