Hillsdale College Shotgun Team Wins 2nd Annual SCTP Fall Nationals

November 12, 2015 – Hillsdale, MI

Hillsdale College congratulates the Chargers shotgun sports team, which finished first in Division III at the 2nd annual Scholastic Clay Target Program Fall Nationals. The team took first place in each of the four disciplines, and marks the end of a very successful fall season.

“This has been one of the most victorious seasons thus far in our team’s history,” said Mike Carl, head coach for the Chargers shotgun team. “Not only did the team compete and win in Division III, but their scores in this year’s Fall National Championship bested all Division II teams and all but two Division I teams.

Individually, junior Kie Kababik shot 199 to take first place in the American Trap event, followed by junior Jordan Hintz’s 198. Kababik and sophomore Drew Lieske led the team in the overall, each with 556 out of 600.

The three-day championship event was held Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 and consisted of 200 American trap targets, 50 American skeet targets, 200 sporting clays targets and 50 five-stand targets. Hillsdale College scored 2,279 out of 2,500, a total of 33 targets ahead of the second place Clemson University shotgun team. The championship hosted 17 colleges and 200 total collegiate competitors.
