Halle Hyman Named GLIAC Freshman of the Year

November 5, 2015 – Hillsdale, MI

Hillsdale College congratulates women’s tennis player Halle Hyman for being named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman of the Year. Hyman was selected for the honor by conference coaches at the conclusion of the 2015 GLIAC tournament on October 25.

“We faced a lot of touch competition this season,” Hyman said. “It’s truly an honor to be named as the freshman of the year. We have a great team at Hillsdale and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my teammates and my coach.”

“Halle is an immense talent and absolutely deserving of this acknowledgment,” said Nikki Walbright, head coach for the Hillsdale women’s tennis team. “We are extremely proud of her.”

A native of Rochester, Mich., Hyman stepped into the Charger lineup and immediately established herself in the No. 1 singles position. She finished the fall season with an 8-3 record in singles and went 8-5 overall. She was also named First-Team All-GLIAC for her performance this season.

On Oct. 6, Hyman was named the GLIAC Player of the Week, becoming the first women’s tennis athlete to earn a weekly conference honor since 2013.
