Biography

Doug Banbury was appointed Vice President for Admissions and Business Development at Hillsdale College in April 2014. During his tenure,Hillsdale has reached its lowest admissions acceptance rate in College history, as well as a record high ACT score for incoming freshmen. He has also overseen the creation of Business Development and a state-of-the-art Contact Center for the College. Business Development leads College departments in a process to develop a long-term strategic plan utilizing metrics to track organizational health.

Prior to coming to Hillsdale, Banbury served as Vice President for Enrollment Development and Marketing at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio, from 2009 to 2013. During that time, he planned and implemented a $4 million budget to support enrollment and marketing strategies for multiple levels of degree completion programs.

Banbury earned a bachelor of science in biology from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1991, and went on to receive a master’s in business administration with a focus in executive management from Ashland University in 1997. Banbury also has a certificate in fundraising management from Indiana University-Purdue and has earned a Balanced Scorecard Certified Professional endorsement from George Washington University. In 2001, he founded Quest Marketing Solutions, a marketing and business consulting firm serving small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. He owned and operated the company in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area until 2010. Additionally, in 2005, he purchased and operated a visual communications franchise, AlphaGraphics, which received the 2006 and 2007 Sales Growth Franchise of the Year, the Gold Circle award from 2005 through 2010, and the Chairman’s Club Award for excellence and contribution to the AlphaGraphics network. Banbury has also provided marketing, admissions, and strategic planning consulting services in education over the past 20 years. Banbury and his wife Malisa have four daughters—Macey, Madison, Morgan, and Makenna.
