Christ Chapel

Standing in affirmation of Hillsdale’s Christian roots, Christ Chapel is a place for on-campus worship, regardless of denomination.

Standing 70 feet tall in the center of campus with a brick and limestone facade, Christ Chapel was dedicated in 2019 as part of the College’s 175th anniversary with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as the speaker. Designed by prominent architect Duncan Stroik, the Chapel was inspired by the English church, St. Martin-in-the-Fields. The chapel comfortably seats more than 1,300 people, and features a 64-foot painted barrel ceiling, 14 columns, arched windows, and wooden pews. Many events are held at Christ Chapel, including Baccalaureate and Convocation; concerts, including the College’s choirs and orchestra; and religious services, including Evensong and Soma.
