Theory I

Introduces students to principles of melodic composition and voice leading in species counterpoint in all modes. Diatonic harmony is learned through realization of figured bass, four-part chorale writing, cadences, and analysis of chorale fragments. Prerequisite: Music 111 or permission of instructor. Simultaneous enrollment in Music 201 required.
