This minor, offered through the History Department, prepares students for careers in the government, military, academia, think tanks, and policymaking as it provides understanding of war and its conduct from a global perspective. This minor is open to all students regardless of their major, and students may enroll in any course even if they do not pursue the minor.

Military History and Grand Strategy Minor
A minor in Military History and Grand Strategy requires the completion of 18 credit hours, including four core courses:
- History 370: War in World History I
- History 371: War in World History II
- History 372: War in World History III
- History 479: American Grand Strategy
Students must complete six additional credit hours of military history and/or strategy courses from departmental offerings, which include:
- History 468: American Military History to 1914
- History 469: American Military History since 1914
- History 470: World War I
- History 471: World War II
- History 472: The Vietnam War
- History 473: The Art of War in World History
- History 474: The Just War Tradition in the West
- History 475: Case Studies in the Origins of War
- History 476: Nation Building and International Development
- History 477: Counter-Insurgency and Counter-Terrorism
- History 478: Special Operations
