Hillsdale College Announces New James Madison Fellowship Class

16 young professionals working in the Washington D.C. area were selected

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Sixteen professionals from around Washington, D.C. were chosen to participate in the James Madison Fellowship Program for the 2022-2023 academic year. The 10-month-long fellowship focuses on a deeper understanding of our current political predicament and the challenges we face in restoring our American republic.

  • Cole Carnick — associate editor, Washington Free Beacon
  • Jeremey Crane — communications director, U.S. Congressman Michael Cloud
  • Harry Fones — director of communications, U.S. House Select Committee on the Economy
  • Nicholas Ganjei — chief counsel, Office of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz
  • Patrick MacDonnell — speechwriter and legislative assistant, Office of U.S. Senator Tom Cotton
  • James Mazol — policy director, U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
  • Christopher Medrano — legislative assistant, Office of U.S. Senator Mike Lee
  • Arta Moeini — director of research, Institute for Peace & Diplomacy
  • Natalie Morgan — press secretary, Office of U.S. Senator James Lankford
  • Rachel Morrison — fellow, Ethics and Public Policy Center
  • Joshua Orlaski — policy analyst, America First Policy Institute
  • John Wesley Reid — editor-in-chief, Standing for Freedom Center
  • Alex Rosenwald — senior director of communications, The Hill
  • Terry Schilling — president, American Principles Project
  • Marshall Yates — executive director, Election Integrity Network

The James Madison Fellows meet about once a month to discuss and study topics such as American foreign policy, free speech, identity politics, immigration, marriage and the family, political economy, and the rule of law. Fellows receive key primary documents and contemporary readings, along with discussion questions and additional suggested readings.
