Hillsdale College Class of 2023 Holds Best Incoming Academic Records to Date

Freshman class enters with highest average GPA, rising transfer rates

Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College welcomes the Class of 2023 to its first semester on campus. The class includes 366 students, from an applicant pool of 2,328, with an average GPA of 3.91, the highest average to date in Hillsdale College’s history. Additionally, 6 percent of the newest class are students transferring into the College, the highest transfer percentage in recent years.

The Class of 2023 has an average SAT score of 1380.51—the highest rating since the new points system was introduced in 2016. In comparison, the freshman class of 2018 had an average SAT score of 1369.82. Hillsdale’s newest students come to campus from around the country with 37 states represented.
