HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Tower Dancers, Hillsdale College’s dance company, presented their fourth annual fall showcase concert on Dec. 3 in the College’s Markel Auditorium. This performance was the first Tower Dancers concert of the year and the first ever to be entirely student-produced and choreographed.

Hillsdale College students Ashley DeMay, Emma De Nooy, Alexandra Himebaugh, Laura Luke, Abigail Pionk, Olivia Rome, and Sophia Rome choreographed routines to music by both classical and contemporary composers. The performance featured several styles of dance, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, and modern.

“The variety of styles and music made for a captivating performance,” said Holly Hobbs, assistant professor of dance and director of the Tower Dancers at Hillsdale College. “The students did a remarkable job of planning, choreographing, and performing this concert.”

The Tower Dancers is a student dance company that produces two dance concerts each year. These concerts feature work by students, faculty, and guest artists. Any student can audition for Tower Dancers regardless of their dance background and major.

“The dancers put in many, many hours of planning and practice,” said Hobbs. “They are grateful to all in the College and local communities who attended.”
