Hillsdale College Features Figure Art Painter Dan Thompson
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College kicks off 2024 with their fifth Professional Artist Series installment of the school year by hosting an exhibit of illustrations by painter and draughtsman Dan Thompson. Students and community members can visit the exhibit in the Daughtrey Art Gallery from Jan. 19 through March 22.
“Dan Thompson’s drawings are an example of the highest level of draftsmanship and understanding of the human form. His perceptual skills and deep knowledge of structure and anatomy allow him to create drawings that go beyond ordinary visual accuracy,” said Julio Suarez, chairman of the Hillsdale College Art Department.
Dan Thompson is a leading figure in the renaissance of skilled-based figurative art. Besides exhibiting his work in public and private collections throughout the world, his teaching has influenced countless artists. Along with teaching workshops and master classes, he has taught at the Art Students league, Studio Incamminati, Parsons the New School for Design, and the New York Academy of Art, where he serves as the faculty chair of the Certificate of Fine Arts program.
