Hillsdale College Hosts Annual Classical Schools Job Fair
Classical schools from across the United States visit Hillsdale College
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Representatives from more than 50 classical schools from across the nation gathered on Hillsdale College’s campus for the annual Classical Schools Job Fair between Feb. 2-4. The job fair, which has been hosted by Hillsdale College for more than a decade, helps to connect Hillsdale College students and alumni with potential employers in K-12 education.
“These schools are dedicated to cultivating virtue and pursuing truth,” said Kathleen O’Toole, assistant provost for K-12 Education. “Hillsdale College is a perfect place for them to find qualified teachers who are serving the same mission.” Participating schools accepted resumes and interviewed graduating Hillsdale College students to fill positions ranging from classroom teachers to marketing specialists. Underclassmen experienced introductory conversations with future employers and learned about potential future teaching opportunities.
“Right now, people all across the country are concerned about the quality and motivation of their local teachers,” said Dan Coupland, dean of Hillsdale College’s master’s program in classical education. “It really is telling that so many schools come to Hillsdale to fill their open teaching positions.” Schools in attendance also had the opportunity to learn about Hillsdale College’s K-12 offerings, including board, school leader, and teacher training opportunities; its K-12 Program Guide; The Hillsdale 1776 Curriculum; and Hillsdale’s new master’s program in classical education.
