Hillsdale College Hosts Luncheon and Symposium in Prescott
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted a luncheon and symposium at Adult Center of Prescott on Jan. 6. Charles Steele, associate professor of economics, gave a talk titled, “Free Enterprise, ‘Stakeholder Capitalism,’ and the Fight for Liberty.” Carolyn Kley Fanning, gift and estate planning counselor, also presented a seminar.
During the luncheon program, Steele discussed the many benefits of free enterprise and outlined why shareholder capitalism would fundamentally change the nature of commerce and harm the country.
“By understanding and employing the principles of self-government and free enterprise, and by having a clear and positive vision of what we are about, we can make the future very bright,” said Steele.
Fanning spoke on “How to Protect Assets, Generate Income, Receive a Charitable Deduction, and Establish a Legacy with Hillsdale College.” “The gathering of so many friends and supporters of Hillsdale College at these receptions is a good reminder that the public is still very interested in classical liberal education,” said Fanning. “I am always honored to represent a college that upholds such a tradition, and thankful for the many supporters who help make that happen.”
Hillsdale College hosts several gift and estate planning symposiums around the country each year that aim to clarify the ways donors can maximize their philanthropic goals in support of the college’s intellectual and academic pursuits as well as give those interested the opportunity to learn more about the college.
