Hillsdale College Hosts National Sporting Clays Association Tournament
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center hosted the April NSCA Classification Shoot on April 29. More than 30 shooters participated in the tournament, including Hillsdale College Shotgun Team members, Halter Center members, and veterans.
The tournament included three events: 100-target sporting clays, 100-target super sporting, and 50-target 5-Stand. The overall winners in sporting and super shooting won a Halter Center Standard Membership.
“We’ve been making some changes to our course this year, so it’s fun to have regulars come back to this tournament and give us feedback,” said Range Manager Matt Little, “Tournaments like this are always enjoyable and foster friendly competition.” Stations were recently added, removed, and re-positioned on the clays course. Additionally, prior to the tournament, hundreds of trees were removed from the course in order to make targets more visible while maintaining the course’s wooded atmosphere.
Participating in the sporting clays and super sporting events costed $70 each, though those who registered for both received a $10 discount. Participating in 5-stand costed $35.
