HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted writer A.M. Juster through its Visiting Writers Program. Juster presented a poetry reading on Feb. 27 and joined Hillsdale College faculty for a panel discussion on Feb. 28. The Visiting Writers Program hosts guest writers every semester to present lectures. Hillsdale College associate professor of English Dutton Kearney coordinated the event.

“We are honored to host such a renowned and accomplished writer,” said Kearney, “Our program allows students to explore careers in writing and grow in their abilities to put thoughts on paper in a more effective, appealing manner.”

Juster read his books “The Secret Language of Women,” “Sleaze and Slander,” and “Wonder and Wrath.” Juster is a formalist poet, satirist, and translator. He is the poetry editor of Plough Magazine and has won numerous awards, including the 2002 Richard Wilbur Award, the Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award of The Formalist, and the Barnstone Translation Prize. Juster’s visit also included a faculty roundtable on literary translation. Eric Hutchinson, associate professor of classics, and Stephen Naumann, associate professor of German, participated in the roundtable.
