Hillsdale College Named One of the top 100 “Smartest Colleges” in the U.S.

October 1, 2015 – Hillsdale, MI

Hillsdale College has been named one of the nation’s smartest colleges in a report released this week by Business Insider. Hillsdale ranked 96th out of 1,338 colleges analyzed in the report, marking the second year in a row it has made the top 100, and making it one of only two schools in Michigan in the top 100.

“Being recognized as one of the smartest colleges in the nation is a testament to the intellectual seriousness we expect from each and every one of our students,” said Dr. David Whalen, provost of Hillsdale College. “It takes a special kind of mind to handle the demands of a rigorous, classical liberal arts curriculum, and we are proud of what our students accomplish here.”

Business Insider calculated its ranking of America’s smartest colleges by examining average SAT and ACT scores reported in the latest U.S. News & World Report ranking. A complete, detailed outline of the methodology and limitations can be found here.

Additional recognitions for Hillsdale College this academic year come from The Princeton Review (Best 380 Colleges, Best Midwestern Colleges); Forbes (Top 200 Public & Private Colleges Nationally); and U.S. News & World Report (#67 in the National Liberal Arts Colleges category).
