Hillsdale College Radio Station Named Finalist In National College Broadcasting Awards

WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM recognized in eight categories in nationwide contest

Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates the students of WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM, the College’s student-run radio station, on earning eight finalist nominations from the 2018-2019 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) College Media Awards. Last year, WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM was a finalist for five national awards.

“I’m incredibly proud of these students who bring creativity and energy to the studio each day,” said Scot Bertram, general manager of WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. “This recognition is a reminder that their dedication continues to yield work of the very highest standard.”

WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM is Hillsdale College’s student radio station, where students report, produce, and host a variety of news and talk programs. The station’s productions are finalists for the IBS College Media Awards in the following categories:

Best Talk Program:

Best Celebrity/Artist Interview:

Best News Interview:

IBS presents awards each year to college and high school media outlets across more than 100 categories. The 2018-2019 awards received 2,700 submissions from schools around the country, and the top 10 percent in each category were selected as finalists.

Award winners will be recognized at the 79th Annual International IBS Conference in New York City on March 2, 2019.
