Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates the students and staff of Radio Free Hillsdale, the College’s on-campus, student-run radio station, on being named finalists for two national prizes in College Broadcasters, Inc.’s National Student Production Awards.

“Our students have put in exceptional effort over the last year to produce high quality radio programming,” said Scot Bertram, general manager of Radio Free Hillsdale. “To be recognized among colleges and universities from across the country is an exciting affirmation of that dedication and an encouragement as we start a new year of work.”

Radio Free Hillsdale, WRFH 101.7 FM, is Hillsdale College’s student radio station, where students produce and host a variety of news and talk programs. The station’s programming is being considered for national recognition in two categories. Hillsdale senior Ryan Kelly Murphy’s news program “Radio Free Hillsdale News” is one of four finalists for Best Newscast Audio, and the radio documentary piece “A Problem of Pain” from senior Jenna Suchyta is one of four finalists for Best Documentary/Public Affairs Audio.

College Broadcasters, Inc. provides education and awards programming to students and advisors of college and high school media outlets across the country. Each year, hundreds of students submit their work for consideration in the National Student Production Awards. Industry professionals evaluate submissions and name four finalists in each category. This year’s awards will be announced at the National Student Electronic Media Convention hosted in Seattle from October 25 to 27.
