Hillsdale College Shotgun Team Earns Five Medals at USA Shooting Match

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Five members of the Hillsdale College Shotgun Team competed at the USA Shooting Selection match in Tucson, Arizona, from Feb. 3 to 8. The team earned two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal:

  • Collegiate Men: Sophomore Josh Corbin (silver); Sophomore Kyle Fleck (bronze)
  • Junior Men: Freshman Jordan Sapp (silver)
  • Collegiate Women: Senior Ida Brown (gold)
  • Para Trap Women: Sophomore Sophia Bultema (gold)

“Our shotgun athletes are doing very well and have been very dominant within USA Shooting Competitions,” said Caitlin Connor Royer, assistant program development and competition manager for Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. “All five of these shooters have very bright futures ahead, and we look forward to seeing what the rest of the season has in store.”

Brown made the Open Women’s Final and will compete at the Hillsdale College Halter Shooting Sports Education Center for a position on the Open World Championship Team. The team will travel to Kerrville, Texas, in March for the Junior Selection, where Corbin, Fleck, and Sapp can qualify for the Junior World Cup and World Championship Teams.

About the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center   

The Halter Center is a state-of-the-art shooting facility located five miles from the Hillsdale College campus. Opened in 2008, the Center aims to introduce individuals to shooting sports and encourage interest across all levels of experience.
