Hillsdale College Students Named Finalists in CBI Awards
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale students claimed six spots as finalists for the College Broadcasters, Inc. Awards. The winners will be announced in October at the CBI convention taking place in Orlando, FL.
Hillsdale students were nominated in the following categories:
• Best Newscast or Sportscast, Best Promo, and Best Documentary: Lauren Smith (‘25)
• Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program: Abigail Snyder (‘24)
• Best Special Broadcast: Josh Barker (‘23), Megan Pidcock (‘25), and WRFH staff
• Best Documentary/Public Affairs: Jack Cote (‘25), Lindsey Larkin (‘25), Christian Peck-Dimit (‘23), Lauren Scott (‘24), Maggie Wackenhut (‘24), and Maddy
Welsh (‘24)
“I’m very proud of our students for their well-deserved recognition,” WRFH general manager Scott Bertram said. “This is the largest number of CBI finalists in Hillsdale history, and is a testament to the quality work produced by our students.”
Being a finalist for the CBI Awards means that the students are within the top four entries in their respective categories. CBI provides opportunities for high school and college media outlets to get involved through networking, programming, and other events.
