Hillsdale College to Honor Daniel Wisner at 64th Annual Alumni Awards Banquet

October 23, 2015 – Hillsdale, Mich.

Hillsdale College will honor Daniel Aaron Wisner as a distinguished alumnus at its 64th Annual Alumni Awards Banquet on Oct. 23 at the Searle Center on Hillsdale’s campus. Wisner, of Milan, Mich., is a retired electronics engineer with 15 United States patents to his credit for his inventions. His most notable patents are for an automotive electronic cruise control in 1968 and for the sensor scheme for antilock brakes, which is now mandatory in every U.S. vehicle.

“It is an immense honor to be recognized at this year’s awards ceremony,” said Wisner. “I was fortunate enough to have some amazing professors here at Hillsdale who really helped me along the way to success—most notably my physics professor, Dr. Olthoff.”

“Daniel Wisner is living proof that a classical liberal arts education from Hillsdale College prepares students for any kind of career,” said Grigor Hasted, director of Alumni Development. “His contributions to technology changed the course of the automobile industry, and we’re thrilled to honor him as a distinguished alumnus of Hillsdale College.”

Wisner graduated from Hillsdale College in 1955 with a degree in mathematics and physics. He has three children and seven grandchildren. Among his many accolades, Wisner received the Unisys Achievement Award for Excellence in 1987.

Lloyd Bond (’64), Susan Cervini, and Will Dunham (’07) will also be honored at the Alumni Awards Banquet.
