Hillsdale College to Honor Lloyd Bond at 64th Annual Alumni Awards Banquet

October 23, 2015 – Hillsdale, Mich.

Hillsdale College will honor Lloyd Bond (’64) as a distinguished alumnus at its 64th annual Alumni Awards Banquet at the Searle Center on Hillsdale’s campus. Bond is a retired senior scholar with the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in Stanford, Calif., and emeritus professor of educational research methodology at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.

“I applied to Harvard, Princeton, and Yale and got accepted to all of them. But choosing Hillsdale brought me the best four years of my life,” said Bond. “My professors had a lasting and continuing impression on me. It is truly an honor to be among the other honorees of this distinguished award.”

Bond graduated from Hillsdale College in 1964 with a degree in psychology. He has received many honors and awards, including the AERA Presidential Citation for Contributions to Educational Measurement.

“Lloyd’s life work has furthered our understanding of the education system, allowing for better comprehension of our current testing policies,” said Grigor Hasted, director of Alumni Development. “The classical education one receives here at Hillsdale is invaluable, as Lloyd’s accomplishments have shown. We are honored to call him a Hillsdale alumnus.”

Bond was a member of two prior American Education Research Association, American Psychological Association, and National Council on Measurement in Education committees to revise the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. He is currently a member of the Design and Analysis Committee of the National Assessment of Educational Progress. He and his wife Jody divide their time between their homes in North Carolina and California.

Susan Cervini, Will Dunham (’07), and Daniel Wisner (’55) will also be honored at the Alumni Awards Banquet.
