Hillsdale College Tower Dancers Perform in Fall Concert
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s Tower Dancers performed in their fall concert on Dec. 3 in Markel Auditorium. The student dance company performed choreographed works and a suite of dances from the “Nutcracker.”
This year’s performance featured ballet, contemporary, and modern choreography by students Emma De Nooy Miller, Lucy Fernandes, Laura Luke, Faith NieKamp, Abigail Pionk, Olivia Rome, Sophia Rome, Ella Shaw, and Hannah Tully. Luke and Tully directed excerpts from Act II of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker.” “We were so exicted to share this timeless Christmas tradition with the community this year,” said Tully.
In total, the dance company consists of 25 members, twelve of whom are freshmen. “The students dedicated many hours of rehearsal and preparation,” said Holly Hobbs, assistant professor of dance and director of dance and the Tower Dancers. “It is my hope that audience members from the college and community enjoyed beauty in motion on the stage.”
This was Tower Dancer’s fifth annual fall concert. The dancers will perform again in the spring, with a concert set for April. Any student can audition to join the company regardless of his or her dance background or college major.
