HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Tower Players, under the direction of Theatre Lecturer Tory Matsos, opened their performance the musical “Bright Star” on Feb. 21. The musical runs through Feb. 25 in Markel Auditorium.

“I am honored to direct a show filled with so many important messages of family, hope, and love,” Matsos said. “The cast and crew put together a meaningful and heartfelt performance, and it has been a pleasure guiding this team.

“Bright Star,” written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, is about Alice Murphy, a literary editor, and the story of how she rediscovers and understands her past after meeting a soldier who had just returned home after serving in World War II. “Bright Star depicts an incredible story of love and redemption,” Matsos said. “The best shows are the ones that dig deeper, answer the tough questions, and allow audiences and casts to unite and bond in a beautiful way that can only happen on the stage.”

“Bright Star” is the third show produced by the Tower Players this season. Additional performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24. The final performance will take place on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. Ticket reservations are required.
