Hillsdale College Tower Players Present “Our Town”

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Tower Players celebrated 75 years by returning to its first major production, Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town,” which opened on Nov. 9. The play runs in the Markel Auditorium in the Fine Arts Building through Nov. 12. Students, faculty, and community members enjoyed the opening night performance.

“I feel privileged to collaborate with our dedicated students and faculty on ‘Our Town,’” said Christopher Matsos, director and associate professor of theatre. “I hope our production will honor those who founded Tower Players and be a rewarding experience for audiences.”

The play tells the story of two families in 1900s Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, has been described as the greatest American play. With its universal themes of family, community, and powerful contemplation of the meaning of life and eternity, “Our Town” offers a poignant and timeless message for each generation.

“Our Town” has upcoming shows on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m.

The Tower Players is the branch of the Hillsdale College Theatre Department that produces plays. It performs four main-stage productions each year, as well as numerous one-act and workshop productions. Any Hillsdale College student can perform with Tower Players.
