The romantic comedy will run through Sunday, March 5

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Tower Players and the John E.N. & Dede Howard Department of Music Production opened their production of the classic musical “She Loves Me” on March 1. Students, faculty, staff, and community members were in attendance for the romantic comedy, which runs through March 5.

“She Loves Me” tells the story of a 1930s parfumerie, where shop clerks Amalia and Georg are always at odds. But when Georg realizes Amalia is his beloved anonymous pen pal, he sets about winning her over. “This is an exciting musical to engage with,” said Tory Matsos, lecturer of theatre. “It’s lighthearted yet romantic. I expect the audience will find themselves immersed in the world of Georg and Amalia.” Matsos directed the production, Adjunct Instructor of Music Karl Schmidt directed the music, and Lecturer in Theatre and Dance Sarah Nowak choreographed.

“She Loves Me” has upcoming shows on March 3 at 7:30 p.m.; March 4 at 7:30 p.m.; and March 5 at 2 p.m. All performances are free but require ticket reservations. Call 517-607-2848 or email [email protected] to reserve a space.

The Tower Players is the branch of the Hillsdale College Theatre Department that produces plays. It performs four mainstage productions each year, as well as numerous one-act and workshop productions.
