Hillsdale College Welcomes Fall 2018 Pulliam Fellow Charles R. Kesler
Claremont McKenna government scholar on campus for two-week residency
Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College is proud to host Claremont McKenna College distinguished professor of government Charles R. Kesler as the College’s fall 2018 Eugene C. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Journalism. Kesler will present a public lecture on “American Political Realignments and American Politics Today.”
“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Kesler joining the Hillsdale journalism faculty this fall,” said John J. Miller, director of Hillsdale’s Herbert H. Dow II Program in American Journalism. “His expertise in American political thought is an indispensable addition to the experience of our students that we are proud to welcome to the Hillsdale academic community.”
As a Pulliam Fellow, Kesler joins a list of notable individuals who have lent their skills to Hillsdale College, including Kimberley Strassel and P.J. O’Rourke, among many others. Pulliam Fellows enjoy a two-week residency on Hillsdale’s campus and teach a course in the journalism department. Fellows also consult with students who work on Hillsdale’s student newspaper, The Collegian.
Kesler is the Dengler-Dykema Distinguished Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College and a senior fellow of the Claremont Institute. He is editor of the Claremont Review of Books, instructor for the Claremont Institute’s Publius Fellows and Lincoln Fellows Programs and host of the Claremont video series “The American Mind.” In addition, he is a recipient of the 2018 Bradley Prize, which honors those who have been influential in American debate and scholarly work. Kesler has authored I Am the Change: Barack Obama and the Crisis of Liberalism and edited several books, including the nation’s best-selling edition of The Federalist Papers. Kesler earned his bachelor’s degree in social studies and his master’s and doctorate degrees in government from Harvard University.
