Hillsdale College Women’s Cross Country Team Claims Conference Title

Chargers coach Andrew Towne named Coach of the Year

Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College congratulates the women’s cross country program for winning the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) cross country championship. This is the program’s first G-MAC title.

“I’m really proud of how our young ladies ran this weekend,” said head coach Andrew Towne. “They did exactly what we asked them to do, and were able to capture our first G-MAC Championship. We’ve accomplished goal number one. Now we will turn our attention to the NCAA Regional Championships in two weeks.”

The championship meet took place on October 21 at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. The Hillsdale College Chargers placed five runners in the top 11 overall, securing their place as women’s team champion. Additionally, Towne was named G-MAC Coach of the Year, and Hillsdale student Maryssa Depies was named G-MAC Freshman of the Year.

The Hillsdale College women’s cross country team will compete in the NCAA Division II Regional tournament on November 4 in Cedarville, Ohio. The NCAA Division II National Championship will take place November 18 in Evansville, Indiana.
