Hillsdale College Young Americans for Freedom Chapter Honors Lives Lost On 9/11
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College chapter of Young Americans for Freedom held a memorial on September 11 to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks. This project is part of YAF’s nationwide 9/11: Never Forget Project.
“This year YAF is expanding the annual 9/11: Never Forget Project by including veterans on campus, local schools, and other community members,” said Victoria Rossmiller, chairman of Hillsdale’s YAF chapter. “The Hillsdale YAF chapter is joining YAF chapters nationwide in remembering those who lost their lives in the tragic 9/11 terrorist attack.”
Hillsdale YAF members invited students, faculty, and staff to contribute to the memorial project by placing 2,977 small American flags in the ground on Hillsdale’s campus quad. The flags memorialize the 2,977 lives lost on 9/11.
“The 9/11: Never Forget Project is an important way for students who may not have been alive during the tragedy to visualize the magnitude of loss on that day,” said Adam Carrington, associate professor of politics and faculty advisor to Hillsdale’s YAF chapter. “Each flag placed is a reminder to persevere in patriotism. Hillsdale students do well to continue that legacy.”
Young Americans for Freedom is a project of Young America’s Foundation. YAF chapter members advocate the ideas of limited government, individual freedom, free enterprise, traditional principles, and a strong national defense through educational activities, conferences, and campus leadership.
