Hillsdale College’s WRFH Named Finalist for Best College/University Radio Station
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM has been named a finalist at the national Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Awards for “Best College/University Radio Station (under 10,000 students).” This is the first time the College’s student-run radio station has been be named a finalist in this category.
“I am thrilled for the recognition Hillsdale has received this year at IBS,” said Scot Bertram, lecturer in journalism at Hillsdale College and general manager of WRFH. “To be named among the top college radio stations in the country is an honor that our students have worked hard for and deserve.”
Students working at WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM have also been named finalists in seven categories at the IBS Awards, including:
- Best Comedy Program: The Loft, Nick Treglia, Rachel Kookogey, Josh Camp, Will Galsterer
- Best Morning Show: The Ryan Young Show, Ryan Young
- Best Women’s Basketball Play-By-Play: Women’s Basketball: Hillsdale vs. Ohio Valley, Christian Peck-Dimit, Nick Treglia
- Best Press Release: WRFH MAB Awards, Josh Barker
- Best Documentary: John Lee Hooker, Jane O’Connor
- Best Talk Program: The Social Mediators, Jillian Parks, Garret Goolsby
Being a finalist means the entry was judged in the top 5 percent of all submissions in that category, usually among the top five in the country. First-place winners will be announced in early March, virtually.
The IBS awards are open to all college stations across the country.
