HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College student-athlete Ida Brown and employee Caitlin Connor Royer took home two silver medals at the Shotgun World Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus, on March 17. Brown is the first Hillsdale College student to secure a World Cup medal. She took the silver medal in the Women’s Trap Team event, while Royer — a four-time World Champion — won both a Mixed Team Skeet silver and a Women’s Team Skeet silver.

“I am absolutely excited and proud of Ida’s first World Cup performance and looking forward to her continued successes,” said Jay Waldron, USA Shooting’s National Shotgun Head Coach. He also said, “I couldn’t be happier that Hillsdale has helped provide Caitlin an opportunity to continue her already exceptional shooting career and her pursuit on the path of success. Both are amazing representatives of their country and Hillsdale College.”

Matt Suggs, CEO of USA Shooting, said, “These performances in Cyprus demonstrate Hillsdale’s ability to attract and develop world-class talent. We are thrilled for both Ida and Caitlin.”

USA Shooting is a non-profit organization that serves as the national governing body of shooting sports. It was chartered by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and aims to prepare athletes for Olympic and Paralympic competitions.

When Hillsdale announced its partnership with USA Shooting in September 2019, the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center became the official home of the USA Shooting National Team.

The next World Cup competition will take place in Lima, Peru, from March 27, to April 7. The event will be livestreamed by its host, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).
