March 24, 2016
Hillsdale College today announced the endowment of the Stanton Educational Scholarship by David and Laura Stanton of the Stanton Foundation. The new scholarship will be made available exclusively to prospective students who are currently part of the foster care system.
“A key component of the mission of Hillsdale College is to provide sound learning that will help preserve the inestimable blessings of liberty and intelligent piety,” said Doug Banbury, vice president for admissions. “This endowment from the Stanton Foundation allows the College to continue in the fulfillment of that mission. We’re excited to make a Hillsdale education more accessible to students in the foster care system.”
The Stanton Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, academic expenses and room and board for four years. To qualify, the student must demonstrate financial need and meet the academic admissions criteria as defined by the College. A 3.0 GPA must be maintained while living in on-campus housing during the academic year.
The application deadline for The Stanton Scholarship is April 1.
Since the late 1990s, the David and Laura Stanton Foundation has been committed to uniting education and adoption. According to the foundation’s website, “the mission of the David and Laura Stanton Foundation is to make the world better by educating at-risk children and promoting adoption, nationwide and worldwide.” More information about the scholarship can be obtained by contacting the Admissions office at (517) 607-2327.
