Outstanding Seniors and Top Academic Graduates Recognized at Hillsdale College Commencement

HILLSDALE, Mich. — As a part of its 171st Commencement Ceremony, Hillsdale College recognized the top five academic graduates of the Class of 2023 and the Outstanding Senior Man and Woman. The Outstanding Senior Man and Woman are nominated by the senior class and voted on by the faculty.

The top five graduates are as follows:

Lewis Beals, of Mason, Michigan, is class Valedictorian. He majored in biology. While on campus, Beals received the Kevin Stanley Gilchrist Memorial Endowed Scholarship, Walter Schober Endowed Scholarship, Norma Jean Endowed Tradition Scholarship, Scovotti Family Hillsdale Tradition Award, and the Pay-It-Forward Pre-Med Endowed Scholarship.

Sophie Webster, of Camas, Washington, is class Valedictorian and majored in politics. Webster was a recipient of the Dino C. Casali Endowed Scholarship, Thomas & Josephine and Thomas & Wilma Pullen Endowed Scholarship, and Edwyn H. Hames Memorial Scholarship

Alexandra Mulet, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah is class Salutatorian and majored in English. Mulet received a Hillsdale Merit Scholarship, the Hebert F. Berg in Honor of Ludwig von Mises Scholarship, Jeffrey Baldwin Memorial Scholarship, and the Professor Olga Muniz Spanish Scholarship.

Jack Graham, of Oviedo, Florida, majored in mathematics and minored in computer science. While at Hillsdale, Graham received the Cunard Endowed Scholarship, Joseph Albert Hekimian Endowed Scholarship, Lee & Roland Stillman-Witte Tradition Award, and a Hillsdale Merit Scholarship.

Mark Tremaine, of McKinney, Texas, majored in history and minored in Greek and classical education. Tremaine received the Robert & Marna Kiser Texas Scholarship, Richard Gilder Scholarship, Lee & Roland Stillman-Witte Tradition Award, and a General Endowed Scholarship.

Larry P. Arnn, Hillsdale College president, also recognized Outstanding Seniors Colton Duncan, international studies in business and foreign language and classical studies major and Lucy Cuneo, classical studies major.
