Scott Atlas Speaks on Pandemic at Hillsdale College Kirby Center
The Academy for Science and Freedom fellow gave a talk titled “The SARS2 Pandemic: Will Truth Prevail?”
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Scott Atlas, a fellow at Hillsdale College’s Academy for Science and Freedom, spoke on the SARS2 pandemic at College’s campus in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 24. Hillsdale College faculty, students, and community members attended.
Atlas, also a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University, discussed the poor political and regulatory response to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the urgent need to restore trust in the country’s political, healthcare, and education institutions. His presentation provided a candid perspective on the actions and decisions made by American political and healthcare leaders from the beginning of the pandemic.
“The management of this pandemic has left a stain on many of America’s once noble institutions, including our elite universities, research institutes and journals, and public health agencies,” said Atlas. “Among the most damaging aspect of the pandemic has been the harm to the essential functioning of science, research, and debate.”
Atlas noted that, though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention appears to be recognizing many of the problems with its lockdown approach, it is still pushing ineffective and poorly contrived vaccine guidelines.
Atlas’s lecture was hosted by Hillsdale College’s new Academy for Science and Freedom. The Academy was established in 2021 to combat the recent and widespread abuses of individual and academic freedom made in the name of science. Atlas is one of the Academy’s fellows, along with Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford University and Martin Kulldorff formerly of Harvard University.
