Second Senior Art Exhibit Opens at Hillsdale College

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College art students Alaura Gage, Ashton Mills, and Grace Cool presented their exhibit, “The Eternal Feminine,” on April 8. Students, faculty, and family attended the event.

“The concept of ‘the eternal feminine’ in academia is somewhat controversial. The argument lies in whether or not you believe that women possess immutable qualities, and whether or not that’s a good thing,” said Gage. “The issue may be controversial, but I truly believe it’s what makes my art good. This gallery is an attempt to show that my femininity is inextricable from my art, and to celebrate that fact.”

Cool added, “The philosophical concept of ‘the eternal feminine’ suggests there are natures particular to women and to men. Our show offers three different perspectives on beauty in the eyes of a woman, showcasing how the feminine nature uniquely influences each of our works.”

The free exhibit will remain open through April 14. Photographs of the event are available here.
