HILLSDALE, Mich. —The Hillsdale College Student Activities Board (SAB) hosted its annual President’s Ball in the Searle Center on Jan. 12. Seniors Aidan Cyrus and Natalie Kent were named President’s Ball King and Queen.
The theme was inspired by the Mediterranean and Moroccan cultures. Students enjoyed food, music, dancing, and a photo booth.
“Three classes of students enjoyed their first traditional President’s Ball this year,” said Gabrielle Lewis, sophomore and SAB member. “It’s a tradition that the COVID-19 pandemic drastically changed, and we were glad to return it to its former glory. The highlight of the night was seeing the entire school coming together for its first normal President’s Ball in a while.”
A Michigan-based cover band, Skyline and the Backstreet Horns, provided music for the duration of the event. Food included beef kofta kabobs, chicken tenders, pita chips with hummus, mocktails, and almond cookies.
A faculty interview panel selected the king and queen from a court of 10 student nominees. President Larry P. Arnn announced the winners at 10:30 p.m. Dr. Arnn and his wife, Penny, danced with the king and queen.
Students wore formal attire, including floor-length dresses for women and suits and ties for men.
