Team USA Shooting Wins Big at World Cup

HILLSDALE, Mich. — USA Shooting earned six medals for shotgun at the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup in Doha, Qatar held from March 4-13. At the event, Kim Rhode won her second World Cup gold medal in the Women’s Skeet division.

Rhode is a member of Team Winchester and has actively participated in competitive shooting for almost 30 years. Along with her gold medal win in the Women’s Skeet division, Rhode also earned gold in the Mixed Skeet Team event with her partner, Vincent Hancock. Upon the completion of this World Cup event, Rhode holds 37 ISSF World Cup Medals.

The Hillsdale College John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center formed a partnership with USA Shooting in 2019, designating Hillsdale as the home of the USA Shooting National Team. Through this partnership, the Halter Center has hosted the Junior Olympic Shotgun Nationals, the Senior Shotgun Nationals, and Para Shotgun Grand Prix. The Halter Center plans to host the Para World Cup in 2024 and aims to host the first Open Grand Prix in 2024. “Hillsdale College is proud of USA Shooting athletes for their continued success in international competitions,” said Rich Péwé, chief administrative officer at Hillsdale College.

In addition to its partnership with Team USA Shooting, the Halter Center is the official training facility for the Hillsdale College Shotgun Team, which recently competed in a USA Shooting General Selection Match in Kerrville, Texas. Hillsdale College Shotgun Team members earning a spot on the 2023 USA Shooting Junior Shotgun National team include Jordan Sapp, Josh Corbin, Kyle Fleck, and incoming freshman Madeline Corbin. The team will travel to compete at the Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany in June of 2023 and the Junior World Championships in Changwon, South Korea in July of 2023.
