Top Academic Graduates, Outstanding Seniors Recognized at Hillsdale College Commencement

HILLSDALE, Mich. — As a part of its 170th Commencement Ceremony, Hillsdale College recognized the top five academic graduates of the Class of 2022 and the Outstanding Senior Man and Woman. The Outstanding Senior Man and Woman are nominated by the senior class and voted on by the faculty.

The top five graduates are as follows:

Jean-Luc Belloncle, of Saratoga, California, double-majored in economics and applied mathematics, with a minor in French. He graduated with a 3.985 GPA. While on campus, Belloncle received the Hillsdale Merit Scholarship, the Hugh & Barbara Havercamp Scholarship, and the A. and G. Hale Forensics Scholarship.

Rebecca Felton, of Phoenix, Arizona, is the class Salutatorian. She graduated with a 3.997 GPA and majored in history, with a minor in French. Felton was a recipient of the Hillsdale Merit Scholarship, Mary Goepfert Scholarship, H. R. Dick Hickory Scholarship, George & Betty Torney WHIP Endowed Scholarship, and B. & Liz Walters WHIP Scholarship.

Rose Koster, of Wrightstown, Wisconsin, is class Valedictorian. She graduated with a major in biology and a 4.0 GPA. While on campus, Koster was a recipient of the Hillsdale Merit Scholarship and Gloria Mae Hauser Scholarship.

Anne Rolfe, of Newberg, Oregon, double-majored in Latin and Greek and graduated with a 3.978 GPA. Scholarships she received include the Tuition Exchange Scholarship and Joseph and Susan Rumble Endowed Tradition Scholarship.

Cliff Yang, of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, is class Valedictorian, with a 4.0 GPA. Yang majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics. While on campus, he received the General Merit Endowed Scholarship, Robey Charitable Trust Scholarship, Donald & Marian Schneider Scholarship, and Tuition Exchange Scholarship.

Larry P. Arnn, Hillsdale College president, also recognized Outstanding Seniors Grant Boyes, politics major and Head Resident Assistant in Simpson Residence, and Rachel Kiti, economics and mathematics double-major and Head Resident Advisor in McIntyre Residence. Boyes and graduates Spencer Woodford and Elaine Townley are commissioned officers in the United States Marine Corps.
