Hillsdale College Art Students Showcase Works in Fall Exhibit

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College will feature the Fall Student Art Exhibit starting on Dec. 1. The exhibit, which will feature all levels of student work from studio classes, runs through Dec. 9 and is open to the public.

“These students all put in exceptional work to produce these pieces over the semester,” said Julio Suarez, chairman of the Hillsdale College art department. “They are excited to share their hard work with the college and broader community.”

The exhibit features the work of students from beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses in design, drawing, oil painting, photography, and sculpture. On Dec. 1, several students were recognized during a special awards ceremony:
– Painting: Claire Henzel (‘24), Ellia He (‘26), and Gillian Ruch (‘25)
– Drawing: Gillian Ruch (‘25), Eleanor Vaughan (‘25), and David Meyers (‘26)
– Sculpture: Joy Hanes (‘25), Emily Hardy (‘25), and Lucia Wilson (‘25)
– Photography: Isabella Sheehan (‘24), Abigail Cool (‘25), and Caleb Holm (‘24)
– Design: Michelle Soukop (‘27), Cecelia Cummins (‘25), and Danielle Hohlbein (‘24)
– Master Copy: Rachel Moeller (‘25), Brooke Hillis (‘24), and Danielle Hohlbein (‘24)

“This event gives students the opportunity to recognize the best work of their peers. The faculty agreed that all of the winners produced outstanding pieces,” said Suarez. “If you are able, please visit the exhibition to enjoy the wonderful work of our students.”

The exhibit is displayed at the Daughtrey Gallery in the Hillsdale College Fine Arts Building. It is open on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Admission is free.
