HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College announced the creation of its new Walter Williams Chair in Free Market Economics on Nov. 14. Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn and Chairman of History Mark Kalthoff announced the creation of the chair and named Associate Professor of Economics Roger Butters as the first chair holder.

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College students participated in the college’s annual Day of Thanks card-writing on Thursday, Nov. 17. The event, hosted by the Hillsdale College Student Activities Board, the 1844 Society, and the Alumni Office invited students to the Grewcock Student Union to write and address cards to friends, family, donors, professors, and others who have donated their gifts and time to the college.

Michael Driscoll Presents Doctoral Research

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College doctoral student Michael Driscoll gave a presentation titled “Could They Be Happier: Law, Morality, and Happiness in the Political Thought of John Locke” on Nov. 10. Driscol gave the presentation after he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation before a panel of Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship faculty members, including his dissertation director, Thomas G. West.

The orchestra performance was directed by Fred Radke, an award-winning trumpeter who has toured with the Harry James Orchestra since 1969, becoming its director in 1989.
