Hillsdale College Announces the Establishment of Matt Suggs USA Shooting Travel Award

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College announces the establishment of the Matt Suggs USA Shooting Travel Award to cover travel costs for student-athletes competing in Olympic-qualifying shooting sports events. Suggs, former CEO of USA Shooting, played an integral role in establishing the college’s partnership with USA Shooting, which made Hillsdale the official home of the USA Shooting National Team.

Hillsdale College for Life Club Travels to D.C. for March for Life Rally

Hillsdale College students and members of the Hillsdale College for Life club attended this year’s March for Life rally in Washington.

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College students and members of the Hillsdale College for Life club attended this year’s March for Life rally in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 20. The student group has marched in the rally annually since 2011. Approximately 150 students made the overnight bus trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the march, which has occurred annually since 1974.

Hillsdale College to Host USA Shooting Junior Olympic Development Camps

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College announces that the USA Shooting 2023 Junior Olympic Development Camps will be held at the Hillsdale College John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center from June 19-24. The camps are open to intermediate-to-advanced trap and skeet shooters ages 12-20.

Hillsdale College Nimrod Education Center Director Receives National Wild Turkey Federation Award

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The National Wild Turkey Federation presented Hillsdale College Nimrod Education Center Director Al Stewart with a Special Recognition Award at the 50-year anniversary celebration in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Jan. 14. “I am honored to be recognized by the National Wild Turkey Federation,” said Stewart. “I am proud to work with so many outstanding individuals and organizations, such as the National Wild Turkey Federation, that are committed to hunting and angling through their spirit of sportsmanship and their respect for our natural resources.”

Hillsdale College Launches New Online Course: “The American Left: From Liberalism to Despotism”

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College announces its newest online course, “The American Left: From Liberalism to Despotism.” Associate Professor of Politics Kevin Slack teaches the free series, which was released on Jan. 31.

Hillsdale College Hosts Law Enforcement Outreach Conference

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted a Law Enforcement Outreach Conference on Jan. 27 at the college’s Dow Hotel and Conference Center. Law enforcement officers from across the country received training to become certified in teaching the Hillsdale College Law Enforcement Constitution Course. The course, launched in June 2022, provides law enforcement officers with deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution. Developed by Hillsdale College faculty and staff, it includes a four-hour block of instruction that can be included in police academy training schedules and in-service training days.

The talk, part of the Hillsdale College Business & Industry Program’s Executive Speaker Series, was titled “The Rebellious Entrepreneur.” A faculty and alumni panel preceded the lecture.

Hillsdale College Hosts Pianist & Composer Robin Spielberg

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Fine Arts Center hosted acclaimed pianist, composer, and recording artist Robin Spielberg in Markel Auditorium on Jan. 28. She performed samples from her most recent album “Give My Regards to Broadway.”
